What we do...
Under the direction of Vern Loveless, the Department of Engineering is charged with the long and short range planning, development, building inspection, road maintenance, code enforcement and infrastructure improvements in Tooele County.
The Department of Engineering accepts applications for building permits,
conditional use permits, professional filming permits, rezone requests,
general plan amendments, public assembly permits, and landfill permits.
In order to accomplish this, the department has 2 divisions:
The Planning and Zoning Division handles the short and long range planning efforts of the county while maintaining and enforcing the zoning and subdivision ordinances.
The Building Division reviews all plans of structures being built in Tooele County. They perform plan reviews as well as on site inspections. They enforce the building, mechanical, plumbing, engery and electrical codes.
The Engineering Department serves as support staff for:

- Council of Governments
- West Erda Improvement District
- Deseret Peak Special Service District
